The fair will include information booths, exhibitor displays, and presentations on topics such as home energy conservation, renewable energy resources, green cleaning products, organic food choices, green landscaping, transportation, composting, growing your own food, and more. Climate Cycle, a non-profit organization dedicated to installing solar systems in Chicago-area public schools, will hold its inaugural benefit bike ride at Grant Park on Saturday May 9th. Proceeds from the event will be used to install solar energy systems on Chicago Public Schools. Cyclists of all levels are invited to participate. The first-time event features live music, exhibits, free “green” products and more. WMAQ-TV Meteorologist Ginger Zee will emcee the event.

Climate Cycle organizes bicycle rides that raise money and awareness in response global warming. Visitors to the Expo had access to 150 vendors and 15 seminars focused both on home restoration and green building technology - plus information on loans and grants for home purchase and rehab through the HCBA and the Department of Housing.

The City of Chicago offered engaging opportunities to turn residences green. Whether attendees lived in condos, greystones, or bungalows, the Chicago Green Home Fairs at CCGT helped teach attendees how to incorporate environmentally friendly products and practices into their homes. Using an exhibit hall format, the event featured local green vendors, installers and services while introducing Chicagoans to the new Chicago Green Home Certification Program.

There were exhibits and demonstrations as well as tours of the organic farm and activities for kids. Organic vegetable seedlings and native prairie plants were available for purchase.
